What is your WORD for 2025?
I like choosing ONE word for the New Year. It replaces a long list of goals, serving as a reminder of my focus and centering all I do around it. While I have been doing this for many years, I found some great insights in this YouTube recording, a friend shared. If you are new to the 1-word idea, it is worth a listen!
Live each day as if it is your first
One great podcast I listen to is Rich Roll. During Best of 2024 – Part One – I heard this concept and loved it. The phrase ” Live every day as if it is your last” is often heard, but upon reflection, is this truly advisable? If we did that, we might want to overindulge, do crazy things, (perhaps not a bad thing!), but potentially they may not align with our intended purpose or long-term goals.

Live every day as if it is your first!
This perspective encourages experiencing each new day without baggage, worries, or preconceived ideas. Similar to a young child who responds with wonder and awe at everything, it emphasizes living in the moment and recognizing the newness of every experience and the numerous possibilities that exist.
Curiosity
So…..this bought me to my word for 2025.
Curiosity, for me, means taking time in the moment, being attentive to what people say, observing my actions and reactions, and appreciating nature and life. It helps ground me in the present and encourages gratitude for everything. Curiosity also leads to exploring new opportunities, testing new ideas, and questioning existing beliefs.
A 1 Minute Technique for Goal Setting.
Rather than “just another resolution” or intentions that fall apart as soon as we return back to the busy-ness of life, I loved this technique as a way to provide focus. The idea comes Stephen Houraghan, Brand Master Acadamy
Just focus on: “One goal that, if you pulled it off in 2025, it would shift your trajectory towards those bigger life goals.
- Forget complicated productivity apps for a second.
- Right now, just pause, and set a timer for one minute.
- In that minute, picture this time next year.
- If you did just ONE achievable thing this year, that would make you feel productive, proud and headed towards that life, what would it be?
- Write it down and slide it into the back of your phone case.
That idea will now be with you, 24/7. No spreadsheets, no sticky notes—just a constant, quiet nudge in the right direction. Every time you pick up your phone, consciously or not, that idea will be with you, influencing your choices.
This isn’t the law of attraction; it’s mental priming. And it works.“
